Marty grew up in northern Ohio, and earned his BFA in Graphic Design there. He had several studio design jobs in Boston, then moved to San Franciso to freelance as an illustrator. In 1982 he got his first motorcycle. That same year he accepted a design job at The Boston Globe, where he met illustrator Jamie Hogan. Two years later they married, and lived the freelancer’s life in San Francisco. They now live on an island off the coast of Portland, Maine with their daughter Daisy, and enjoy touring New England together on their motorcycles.
Images are done with an airbrush, using acrylic colors on bristol board. The board is flexible and suitable for scanning. Artwork can be scanned in the studio and sent via e-mail, disc, or FTP. If you prefer, original art can be sent FedX.
Clients such as The Wall Street Journal, IBM, The National Football League, and Disney Hotels have used Marty’s images on packaging, posters and book covers, and in annual reports and magazines. They’re attracted by his graphic, colorful style, solid design and quirky perspectives. His creativity, experience, and dependability keeps them coming back. Consider him for your next project, and give him a call.
